Russian Red


Russian Red is a hardneck garlic of the Rocambole variety. It averages 6-10 cloves per bulb. Russian Red wrappers are purple with brownish skin around the clove. It stores 4-5 months under proper storage conditions.

Flavour: Russian Red has a milder flavour. It starts off strong and finishes with a warm, sweet aftertaste. Russian Red seems to be a cross between garlic and onion in flavour. Great for eating raw because of the mild flavour. recommended sliced raw in salads and dips, steamed or sauteed with vegetables, added to pizza or pasta dishes.

Growing Conditions: Russian Red likes colder climates but avoid planting in sitting water.
