Paperboat farms is our family run garlic farm established in the fall of 2017 by Evodie and Jonathan Smith alongside my parents, Philippe and Laurence Gutknecht. This fun project started with three varieties of garlic but quickly turned into a passion as we discovered the distinct flavours that are expressed in each varieties. With the growing need for fresh, local, organic garlic in our community we have now grown our business to offer 19 varieties of garlic, spice mixes and creative edible arrangements.
Paperboat Farms is located in the small town of Newington, between Ottawa and Montreal, we are thankful for the rich soil and excellent growing conditions that are made available to us in Stormont County.
Our mission is to provide our community with the highest quality of fresh, local and organically grown garlic. Our garlic is grown using only organic principles, we received our organic certification in 2021 and can now guarantee certified organic products.
We are thankful for the knowledge, love of gardening and passion for healthy eating that was passed on through many generations. We thrive to pass the same values and life skills to our children by teaching them the importance of respecting the environment, observing the transformation of a seed into a plant and finally benefiting from each plant we grow.
We are thankful for the opportunity to serve our community by providing the best quality product we possible can. This could not be done without the encouragement and help of our children, many family members, and friends who share their time, skills and knowledge to help us move forward each year.
